Privacy Policy

How Chewing IT collects, uses and protects your personal information — under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Last updated: April 2026

1. About this policy

Chewing IT (ABN 42 628 833 330) (“Chewing IT”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website, support channels and managed-services engagements.

We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. What information we collect

We collect personal information necessary to provide you with IT services and respond to your enquiries. This may include:

  • Name, business name, role, email address and phone number
  • Service preferences and the contents of any messages you send us
  • Technical information about your IT environment when we deliver services (device names, account names, configuration details)
  • Records of support tickets, project notes and correspondence
  • Standard web analytics data (IP address, browser, device, pages visited)

3. How we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and prepare quotes
  • To deliver, monitor and support the services you've engaged us for
  • To meet legal and contractual obligations
  • To improve our website, services and customer experience
  • To send service-related communications (we don't send marketing email unless you've opted in)

4. Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the third parties needed to deliver our services — for example, Microsoft (for Microsoft 365 licensing and support), our endpoint and security vendors (e.g. Bitdefender, Sophos, ThreatLocker, Blackpoint, Acronis), and our internal documentation/RMM platforms. All vendors are bound by their own privacy obligations.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or law-enforcement request.

5. Storage and security

Personal information is stored in Australia and other jurisdictions where our cloud providers operate (primarily Australia and the United States). We apply industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit and at rest, MFA-protected accounts, role-based access, and audited admin activity — to protect against unauthorised access.

6. Cookies & analytics

Our website uses essential cookies to function and analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as expected.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request that we correct any inaccurate or out-of-date information
  • Withdraw any consent you've given (e.g. unsubscribe from marketing)
  • Lodge a complaint about how we've handled your information

To exercise any of these rights, get in touch via our contact form. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

8. Changes to this policy

We review this policy periodically and will publish the current version on this page. Material changes will be highlighted with a revised “Last updated” date.
